EAST MONTPELIER FIRE DEPARTMENT

CHIEFS MESSAGE

Within this proposal you will find many differences from the proposal that was brought to you in 2007.  Location, size, design,
functions, and, most of all, price are what you will see that is different.  Surveys sent to you, made up of questions from both
select board, have been our guide in putting this together.

The members of the East Montpelier Fire Department again will have logged an astounding 3000 hours responding to
emergencies, training, checking equipment, and conducting fire prevention activities.  The needs within our communities
demand this type of commitment to provide all of us the level of services that make our communities a safe and comfortable
place to live and raise our families.

For the first time in the history of the East Montpelier Fire Department we will, beginning July 1st 2009, transport patients from
East Montpelier and Calais in our own ambulance.  This will improve the arrival time to the hospital, getting you there withing the
GOLDEN HOUR.
The ambulance service will also generate a revenue stream.  We have committed to return 75% of that revenue
back to the towns to reduce the expense of a new Emergency Services Building.

I ask that you take the time to consider this information and understand that this Emergency Services Building is truly needed,
We need your support on a bond vote in March.  Operating in inadequate facilities as we do now continues to put all of your
neighbors who volunteer to provide you emergency services at great risk.
