The department has contacted each of our Congressional offices (Sen. Leahy, Sen. Sanders and Rep. Welch) to make them
aware we have a shovel-ready project for the economic stimulus money. They are all watching closely as it progresses. We have
also sent our project to the Vermont Emergency Management department to add to their list. Our select boards have also put our
emergency services project on a list with the Vermont League of Cities and Towns. The current proposed federal legislation has a
large amount of money designated for fire stations. A positive vote on the bond issue will position us as a ready-to-go project in the
eyes of the state officials who will decide who receives the federal stimulus money.
